Our History


St. James Episcopal Church has been a faithful presence in the Mansfield community for generations, serving as a place of worship, prayer, fellowship, and outreach. Rooted in the Episcopal tradition, St. James' carries forward the Anglican heritage of proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments, and serving God’s people in the world.

From its earliest days, St. James' has been a gathering place where people have come together to seek God, support one another, and live out their faith. Through seasons of growth and change, our parish has remained committed to the mission of the Episcopal Church: to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.

Our historic church building stands as a reminder of the generations of faithful people who have worshiped, prayed, celebrated, mourned, and served within these walls. The traditions passed down through the years continue today through our worship, music, hospitality, and commitment to the Mansfield community.

As part of the wider Episcopal Church, St. James' is connected to a global family of Christians through the Anglican Communion and to congregations throughout Pennsylvania through the Diocese of the Susquehanna. In 2026, the Diocese of the Susquehanna was formed through the reunification of the former Dioceses of Central Pennsylvania and Bethlehem, bringing together communities of faith with a shared commitment to Christ, mission, and ministry across the region.

Today, St. James' continues to look toward the future with hope, honoring our history while discerning how God is calling us to serve our neighbors, welcome new generations, and share Christ’s love in Mansfield and beyond.

Clergy Leadership


The Rev. Janis Yskamp
Priest in Charge

The Rev. Janis Yskamp provides pastoral leadership, spiritual guidance, and sacramental ministry for the people of St. James'. Through worship, preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, she helps guide the parish in its mission of following Christ and serving the community.

 


Diocesan Leadership


The Rt. Rev. Audrey Scanlan
Bishop of the Diocese of the Susquehanna

Bishop Audrey Scanlan provides episcopal leadership and pastoral oversight for the Diocese of the Susquehanna, supporting congregations as they live out their mission and ministry.

The Rt. Rev. Kevin Nichols
Assisting Bishop of the Diocese of the Susquehanna

Bishop Kevin Nichols serves alongside Bishop Scanlan in supporting the congregations and clergy of the diocese.
