The grounds of St. James Episcopal Church are home to two special ministries that extend our welcome beyond Sunday worship: our outdoor Prayer Labyrinth and our Little Free Library.

Our Prayer Labyrinth offers a peaceful place for prayer, meditation, and spiritual reflection. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has one winding path that leads to the center and back again, inviting those who walk it to slow down, listen for God's presence, and find moments of peace amid the busyness of life. Designed after the famous labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France, it is open to everyone in our community who seeks a quiet place for prayer and contemplation.

Just steps away, our Little Free Library reflects our commitment to lifelong learning and hospitality. Visitors are invited to "take a book, leave a book," sharing stories, inspiration, and knowledge with neighbors of all ages. Whether you're looking for your next great read or have books to share, the library is a simple way to connect with our community.

These ministries became a reality through the vision, dedication, and generous work of Samuel and Karen Cooke, whose commitment to St. James has created lasting gifts for both our parish and the wider Mansfield community. Their efforts have provided places where people can encounter God, discover a good book, and experience the welcoming spirit of St. James.
